My mom lived close to a creek when she was growing up in Pennsylvania. She always called it a "crick." Here in Texas we call ours "bayous."

That looks so peaceful and calm (she said as her teeth are rattling from the men drilling my windowsill outside my apartment window on the 36th floor in NYC).
Makes me think of a small creek at my in laws house.
