Reading Challenge: What's in a Name? 2014
It's
that time of the year! No, not Christmas, the signing up for reading
challenges! I used to be a reading challenge addict, but in the last
couple of years, I've gotten away from them and now I do just one. My
very favorite challenge: What's in a Name?
As
you know, I was the host of this challenge for four years. I have now
passed the torch on, and the challenge has a new home. You can find the
sign-up post and all the information over at The Worm Hole.
I'm
so happy this challenge has a future thanks to the generosity of
Charlie. I encourage everyone to jump in and sign up. I love the
categories this year, and I'm already thinking about my strategy. I
always start out the year with a list of possible books to fit each
category, but the most fun is seeing how many I can complete just
through my regular reading. In September or so, I review my status and,
if necessary, make a focused effort to complete the challenge.
Here are the 2014 categories with a few suggested titles from Charlie:
A reference to time (Eleven Minutes, Before Ever After)
A position of royalty (The People’s Queen, The Last Empress, The Curse Of The Pharaoh)
A number written in letters (The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, A Tale Of Two Cities)
A forename or names (Rebecca, Eleanor & Park, The Unfinished Work Of Elizabeth D.)
A type or element of weather (Gone With The Wind, Red Earth Pouring Rain)
Be sure to read the sign-up post for all the rules and to join in the fun.
I
want to thank everyone who participated in this challenge in the past: I
appreciate your support and hope you had fun with it. I also want to
thank Charlie for agreeing to be the new host. And I want to thank all
of you in advance for continuing to make this one of the most popular
challenges around.

I really shouldn't do any more challenges, I may have another slow reading year next year, but I should attempt this one at least. I have a couple times since it started and I am not even sure if I have ever finished...
I haven't done a challenge in years (and haven't missed it!)...but this was always my favorite.
Glad it has another home.
sorry to learn you will no longer host this fantastic challenge, but glad it has a home, and I'm signing up today
I am so glad someone has agreed to take over the reins. I enjoyed this challenge in the past and look forward to it in 2014. I am also glad to see you signed up to participate. I so enjoy your blog.
This is a fun challenge! Good luck!
This is one of the few challenges I participate in now. I'm sorry you aren't the leader this year but I understand where you're coming from.
i love the idea of a challenge but i never sign up because i know i will never stick to it .. its tough for me to commit to a specified reading list since i have such odd taste
Thanks, Beth :) I'm glad to be able to continue it for you. I like the idea of reviewing your status in September and going with the flow otherwise. I've some choices made, but seeing how regular reading can take you could be very interesting.
Hi Beth, Many thanks for being such a great host over the last few years. So good to hear this challenge has a new home as it is the only one I'm sure to join in with.
