Today's Read: River Road by Suzanne Johnson
What's
a modern wizard to do when new beings start appearing in post-Katrina
Louisiana? Drusilla Jaco (DJ) has enough problems just keeping the
humans unaware of the paranormals, but when someone or something begins

The minute hand of the ornate grandfather clock crept like a gator stuck in swamp mud. I'd been watching it for half an hour, nursing a fizzy cocktail from my perch inside the Hotel Monteleone. The plaque on the enormous clock claimed it had been hand-carved of mahogany in 1909, about 130 years after the birth of the undead pirate waiting for me upstairs.—River Road by Suzanne Johnson (Tor / Tom Doherty, 2012; opening paragraphs)
They were both quite handsome, but the clock was a lot safer.

I like it! I would agree a clock would be safer but not nearly as interesting as a dead pirate!

Sounds clever. Might be fun. Here's Mine
This sounds like a series I could really enjoy. I don't read a lot of urban fantasy but I did read all of the Sookie books and loved them. I'll have to give this a try! Thanks!
I love books set in New Orleans...and this one has already caught my interest. Thanks for sharing.
Here's MY TUESDAY MEMES POST
I'm so excited for this book it's a little ridiculous! I loved the first one and although I have a copy of River Road I haven't been able to get to it yet.
My TT!

Oh, this was a good quote! It makes me feel like I want to read this book right away!! Great choice for a teaser today, Candace!
*Grin* It makes sense that a clock would be saver than an undead pirate.
I want to read this one for sure!
Is there a werebear in it? It seems like the new "it" paranormal being!
