Thankfully Reading Weekend: Wrap-Up
Yesterday marked the end of the first Thankfully Reading Weekend. I was thankful to have the days off, but I didn't get quite the amount of reading in that I had hoped to. On the other hand, I had a relaxed and stress-free weekend, and that counts for a lot!
Audiobooks: I finished the remaining 7 hours of An Echo in the Bone by Diana Gabaldon and started Sweeping up Glass by Carolyn Wall. Wow, Glass has swept me up (okay, lame, I admit), and I'll be highlighting it on Thursday if I haven't finished by then.
Print books: I finished Meet the Austins by Madeleine L'Engle and The Magykal Papers by Angie Sage. I almost finished The House on Tradd Street by Karen White.
The good news is that I can put three half-read books to rest and get the reviews written this week. The bad news is that I didn't spend the hours I thought I would in reading. More good news is that I took a long walk outside on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. I've enjoyed reading the Thankfully Reading Weekend posts that were linked up at the Book Blog Social Club. I also want to thank co-hosts Jenn of Jenn's Bookshelves and Jen of Devourer of Books for coming up with the idea and for their help.
I'd like to make a small plug for the Book Blog Social Club. If you have a community event in mind and need a place to host it, check with the owners to see if the blog is available. According to the first post on the blog:
The Book Blog Social Club is quite simply what it states! It's a place for book bloggers to socialize and celebrate major life events. If you'd like to host an event at the Book Blog Social Club please email bookblogsocialclubATgmailDOTcomHoping everyone has a fabulous, safe, and healthy holiday season.

I finished The House On Tradd Street this weekend. I loved it. I don't usually read ghost stories but lately have been finding myself enjoying them. I enjoyed the weekend and it was very relaxing. I would do it again in a heartbeat!
I don't think it's at all "lame" to get swept up into a book, if so than I'm guilty many times over. I didn't read as much as I thought either, but relaxation and stress-free weekends do count for a lot.
I am bummed I didn't join in on the fun. I honestly did not think I would get any reading done over the holiday weekend but I did...and every little bit I was thankful for. Although you didn't read as much as you wanted, it sounds like you accomplished quite a bit and the fact that you had 'a relaxed, stress-free weekend' does count for a whole lot:)
I crashed and burned in the reading department this weekend, but that is what I expected. If I can calmly step away from this computer anytime soon, I will begin some walking to further myself on The Given Day!
Thanks for hosting such a fun, relaxed event. Enjoying reading everyone's wrap-ups.
This weekend was perfect for the Thankfully Reading event! It was so relaxing. Glad to hear you took a long walk. I need to start taking them myself.
Thanks for all your help on creating Thankfully Reading a wonderful event! I had a great time! I didn't feel pressured at all to read, and really enjoyed the time I spent with my family.
My reading took a hit this week, but I was thankful to be with family :)
It's great that so many people enjoyed a no-rules event that encouraged offline reading
Unfortunately I didn't get to participate, and there is no way I can claim to have had a healthy weekend...too many cookies and sweets and potato chips and dvd's...but I also managed a short walk, though, and I got to spend time with family, so I guess that count for something. No reading though.
I got very little reading done last week, but I'm not complaining because I enjoyed my family instead!
I read the House on Tradd Street and really enjoyed it. More here if you'd like to read:

I've just gotten the second in the series and am hoping I like it as well.
What a great weekend it was! I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to participate and I look forward to it next year as well.
I personally think The Social Club is a great idea. I'm pretty new to the review arena and it's nice to have a group of friends to look to already. Thanks!
Didn't get a ton of reading done over the long weekend, but I did get lots of decorating done. Actually I read a little on the bus to NYC yesterday!
Getting half read books finished is a great accomplishment. Glad you had a great weekend.

I only finished one whole book and part of another...though I nearly finished the poetry book before the end of the weekend. I'm still counting it.
I didn't get as much reading done as I thought I would either, but it was nice to be thankful for it!
