Read-a-Thon: Hour 24!!!!!
It is the end of another Read-a-Thon! Well done and good job for those who stayed up the whole time and especially those who read the entire 24 hours. Way to go!!!
There is a final Twenty-Fourth-Hour Meme and I'm going to participate!
1. Which hour was most daunting for you? Somewhere around hour 17, I closed my eyes for just a second -- and, well, next I knew, I had slept 5 hours!
2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year? No, but I wish I hadn't started out with a novel that touched on heavier topics. I think light and fun is the way to go.
3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year? No -- it is super!
4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon? I liked the more organized cheering for the blogs. Great idea.
5. How many books did you read? I finished 2, abandoned 1, and got almost all the way through another.
6. What were the names of the books you read? A Friend of the Family, A Sword of Fire and Ice (abandoned), Fables, The Darcys and the Binglieys
7. Which book did you enjoy most? Can't say because all three were totally different.
8. Which did you enjoy least? A Sword of Fire and Ice.
9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders? Just keep cheering!!!
10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time? I am absolutely participating -- probably just cheering.
I love the Read-a-Thon; it's a fabulous event! I'm so glad I tried to be both a reader and a cheerleader because I learned that my real role is to be a full-time cheerleader. It was way too difficult to be both, and I didn't do a good job of either. In the spring I'm taking up my pompoms and sticking with being a full-time cheerleader. Who knows, maybe someone will ask me to be one of the lead cheerers!
Hip-hip-hurray to all the organizers!!!! Super, super job.

Hurray you're here at the end! Looking forward to seeing you be super cheerleader at the next one.
Congratulations on making it to the end! -- Kimm
A job WELL done! Congrats on making it till the end! :)) I'll work on my meme in a bit: the last 20 minutes of the readathon I'm cheering ;)
Congratulations ...It was super fun wasn't it.. I too wanna cheer next time..Officially though :)
YAY! Congratulations on making it the end! Super, excellent job!!!
I liked being a cheerleader as well and would have had problems doing both reading and cheering. I think you've done really well doing both. Can't wait for next round.
You'd make a great head cheerleader!
I'm glad you made it through! I'd totally vote for you for head cheerleader...you are awesome!
I'm so glad the more organised cheering worked for you! :) (Even if I was a bit incompetent and missed your name! Eek!) Rather than ask people to be head cheerleaders, I asked for volunteers in my cheerleading post (I didn't want anyone thinking they had to say yes)-you should definitely volunteer next time! You'd be great! :D
I wondered what happened to my late night cheering buddy! LOL. Excellent job, and I hope you had a great time. I always do.
it's great that you found out cheerleading works for you.
It won't for me bcoz I get too distracted by things. I like cheering people as and when I feel tired of reading.
It looks to me like you did a great job! It's nice to know you've found your true calling, though!
You are an AWESOME cheerleader! Me, too on the CANT-READ-MUST-CHEER theme of readathon. I just feel like I'm missing something when I open the book. sigh. CHEERS to YOU!! - Care
YEA --- good job!
I think your reading accomplishments were great - but I do think you have a knack for being a full-time cheerleader :)
Here's looking forward to the spring event.
Congratulations! I look forward to hearing all about the books you read.
You did a great job! Although, I have to admit I missed your cheering. You were amazing last time!! Congratulations on all you read!
Congrats making it to the end.
I agree, Eva's organizing us was a brilliant idea.
And you should volunteer to be a head cheerleader next time. Your Twitter experience would look good on your cheerleading resume. :-D
You'd be an awesome lead cheerleader, and I'd recommend picking Jill for your team ASAP if she's not a lead cheerleader too, because with your willingness to get kicked off of Twitter and her poems/songs you'd be unstoppable.
You are a fabulous cheerleader! You should definitely volunteer to be a head cheerleader as Eva said, you would be awesome. I know what you mean about just closing your eyes for a second - that's how I ended up falling asleep when I thought I was doing well!!! You did do a great job reading, too, especially after choosing a heavier book.
Congratulations on finishing! You're right it is hard to read and cheer.Next time I'm just going to read. What did you think of Fables?
Sweet dreams!
Congrats! You did awesome!
I completely agree about the difficulties of being both reader and cheerleader. I like the idea of doing half and half. That might be a good suggestion!
Great Job! I could probably only do one or the other myself. Last year I was a reader and even though enjoyed it, completely exhausted myself trying to stay up too late. I enjoyed being a cheerleader this year - less stress and more fun.
You'd make a great head cheerleader!! I'd vote for you!
I think you have made an amazing job, reading nearly three books and cheering as well :D
Congratulations on all you accomplished (you deserved a 5-hour "nap") ... and no Twitter jail this time around :)
Great job on the readathon! I hope you had fun.
great job!!! i was only a 1/4 time cheerleader--had a party, laundry, baking, and cleaning to do...but i did manage to finish a book! in the spring i'll do better. kudos on a job well done. and awesome job organizing the prizes and such!
I read my first graphic novel toward the end and that was a great way to keep going. I'm going to have to look for more the next read-a-thon. I was afraid that if I closed my eyes, the same thing would happen to me.
You did a great job! I had a lot of fun, too - but I'm thinking of just cheering next time and doing my own readathon another day so I'm not tempted with all the socializing! :)
LOL I've had that happen to me in the past (usually when meeting a deadline, though) - I close my eyes for a second and next thing I know, I've slept for a few hours too!
You will be a fabulous lead cheerers! Your enthusiasm with the cheering during the last readathon was what inspired me to participate this time, and I had so much fun! It was incredible, how much fun it was. I'm definitely signing up for the next one, too!
Congrats on finishing the readathon - I'm so impressed that you managed to both read and cheer!
Congratulations, Beth! I think you did well. I missed out on this one, though. :)
Great job! Sounds like you had a lot of fun. I remember laying down to read, but I don't remember falling asleep, though I slept for 6 hours and woke up after the Read-a-Thon had ended.

You did great, Beth! Congratulations on a successful read-a-thon :)
Congratulations! ^-^
I've heard from everyone who tried both cheerleading and reading that that's really tough, so don't be too hard on yourself!
As long as you've had fun, that's the important part! And it sounds like you did! ^-^
(*pokes carefully* Apologies if I end up double-posting.)
Great showing in the Read-a-Thon! I had one of those unfortunate "just closing my eyes for a minute" moments, too.
You don't give yourself enough credit you did a great job reading AND cheering!
Congratulations on a successful read-a-thon :)
Well done! If you're going to stay up for 24 hours, what better way to spend the time! I agree, light reading is the way to go.
Nice job reading and cheering :) It's good you did both so now you know what you really love to do for next time.
I could imagine closing my eyes for a second and then waking up 5 hours later! I'm sure you weren't the only one!
I do think it would be hard to cheer AND read. I think for the next one, I would like to try and be a cheerleader. I focused on reading but kept wanting to visit people and do mini-challenges. It was so fun.
Congrats on your read-a-thon accomplishments.
