Awarded Three Times Over
I am once again blessed with the incredible kindness of the book blogging community. Thank you all for thinking of me.
The wonderful Melody from Melody's Reading Corner gave me the Proximidade Award. According to her post: Being a recipient of this award affirms that this blog invests and believes in the Proximity--nearness in space, time, and relationships. This blog receives this great award as a further way to reiterate that it is exceedingly charming and aims to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement! Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Thanks so much, Melody! I'm a regular reader of her blog; photos, reviews, memes, and challenges--it's all there.
Carolyn from Book Chick City kindly gave me this cool Splash award. The award is given to alluring, amusing, bewitching, impressive, and inspiring blogs. Wow!! That's a lot to live up to. Book Chick City was one of the blogs I discovered during BEA, and I encourage you to discover it too: reviews, giveaways, and a great design. Thank so much, Carolyn!
La Coccinelle at The Ladybug Reads gave me the Honest Scrap award, which comes with a meme. The award is given to bloggers who write from the heart. The rules are to pass it along to seven bloggers and then list 10 honest things about yourself. Before I tell you 10 things about myself, I want to encourage you to visit Ladybug: cute design plus thoughtful reviews equals a winning combination. Thanks so much for this great award.
10 Honest Things about Me
- I really love pens. I have all kinds from fountain to gel and in all colors.
- I also really love cool paper, which is kind of nice because I like pens.
- My garden used to include over 60 kinds of herbs, but now I grow mostly wildflowers.
- I'm forced to root for the Phillies this year (Mr. BFR's home territory), but I'm really an American League kind of person.
- If forced to pick, I'd watch pro football over college.
- Despite the last two items, I really don't watch sports, except for the World Series, major college football bowl games, Super Bowl, and Olympics.
- I like going to the grocery store.
- I like going to the farmers market even more.
- I can't make a good pie crust despite many years of coaching from relatives and friends.
- Despite that last statement, I came in second in a national apple pie contest.

Congrats on the awards. I'm a little bit disappointed to see that you'd pick pro football over college though. That's just unfathomable for me given where you reside!
Congrats on your awards, Beth. I also love pens and stationary (really, I can run amok in any paper/pen/office supplies store and am often sad that mainly, I write on my computer and I do not have the need for all those wonderful office supplies like pink post its, strawberry smelling erasers, delicately looking moleskine-type notebooks, creamy letter paper, yummy pens and all those other goodies available ;-)
Congratulations on your well-deserved awards! I am not a big baseball fan (although there is a slight somber mood in the house as my husband has watched the Yankees beat the Angels twice) but I am a fan of TH's Philly ice cream...that's as far as my b-ball loyalty goes:)
Congrats on the awards!
You like grocery shopping?? Can I hire you?
As much as I love cooking, I absolutely loathe grocery shopping! I always do it Monday morning to get it over with!
I missed the grocery store gene, but everyone else in my family loves to go, even my father, who will be 90 years old soon!
Congratulations on the awards! I am hoping to visit the blogs who bestowed them on you real soon.
Have a happy week!
*smiles*

Congratulations on the awards - I especially like "Splash" because it reminds me of a warm-weather getaway!
I'm with Sandy - grocery shopping on Monday morning so it's DONE! I don't like our local grocery store - customer service is lacking!
congrats on the awards! i detest grocery shopping and for the last year have shopped ONLINE with peapod. they deliver the next day. the prices are the same and delivery is a nominal fee. it's so worth it!
now, i'd like to know more about this national apple pie winning recipe! do tell. :)
Congratulations on the awards! That is very cool. I love the true facts. Over 60 kinds over herbs? That's impressive.
I'm not a big fan of grocery shopping. I'm going to have to check out Peapod. :)
Congrats on all your awards, Beth! They're all well-deserved!
I liked reading the 10 things about you. Coming second in a national apple pie contest is amazing. Congratulations on your awards.
Congratulations on all your awards! :D
Congratulations on your awards! And really enjoyed reading your 10 Honest Things list!
Think it's funny that so many people don't like grocery shopping. At home, it's just another necessary chore, but when I'm on vacation? Love to explore the local grocery store! DH thinks I'm strange, but I get a kick out of different products that we don't have at home, and usually wind up buying something. *L*
Congratualtions on your well-deserved awards!
Jason and I made apple pie together over the weekend and for the first time EVER the crust was good :) We made it on our anniversary and Jason says it was because it was made with love, LOL.
First, congrats on the awards.
Second, there is a lot of irony in the honest scrap list. You can't make a decent pie crust but came in second in a pie contest and you would watch pro-football and like the American league, but don't watch a lot of sports. LOL Too cute.
