Musing Mondays: Under Review
Here is today's Musing Mondays hosted by Rebecca at Just One More Page. To play along and to see other answers, head on over to Rebecca's blog.
Do you read any non-blogging book reviews? If so, where (newspaper, library etc)? Do you have any favourite sources you'd like to share?
Yes. I read lots of non-blogging book reviews. Here are some sources, in no particular order:
1. New York Times
2. Publisher's Weekly
3. AudioFile magazine (note that the reviews are helpful for print readers too)
4. Mailing lists: (DorothyL and Sounds Like a Mystery are just two of many good lists)
5. Book Report Network (I like Bookreporter)
6. My library has monthly newsletters on a variety of genres
I'm also on a number of professional print mailing lists, some of which include reviews. And, of course, there are the commercial bookstore websites, but I don't put as much stock into their reviews.
I'm sure I've forgotten other sources and will be saying "Oh, yeah!" as soon as I go off to read other people's answers.

I read reviews, too. My reviews are mainly from different online services. Have a great day!
I don't usually read any professional reviews. I wonder if this is strange, I should check out other answers to this meme.
Yes, I forgot I read Bookreporter as well as the ones I mentioned on my post.
No wonder I have no time to read my books!
I use a few of the same sources, but my local library doesn't include any reviews in their pulication. For that matter, I don't even think they have a regular newsletter. They simply post bulletins online when an even is coming up etc. I wasn't familiar with a few you listed, so I'll be checking those out as well. Thanks.
I receive Entertainment Weekly and trust them implicitly. Before blogging, this is where I got probably 90% of my TBR list. I also get recommendations from friends as well!
Sandy: I totally forgot about EW. We used to get it because I think their reviews of books, movies, music, and TV are almost always accurate. We let the subscription go for some reason.
You are in the know! Now I know where to go to get the latest scoop.
I haven't tried most of these reviews, so maybe I should!
I read lots of blog reviews, but I also check our Sunday paper, and when I want to know if the books I found at my library are any good I google them and see what comes up.
Thank you so much!!!!!!!!
Where is the button to follow you? I can't find it...

thx again :)
Yeah, my biggest one outside of blog reviews is The New York Times. Thanks for visiting my blog :)
You always have the greatest resources and links. I discovered something new today - Mystery scene magazine and they are giving away a free copy. Yeah!
My post is up now.
Robin
I also read Publisher's Weekly, as well as the indies newsletter. I cancelled my subscription of Bookmarks because I couldn't go through all their listings and that my hair salon has subscribed it!
Great post Beth! I agree-your blog is always full of great links and resources. I have never taken the time to find resources online for book reviews and have now bookmarked Publishers Weekly, Bookreporter and New York Times.
Thanks so much for posting these.
*smiles*
Kim
I am going to check out those links. Thanks.
Thank you for the great links! I'm loving bookreporter now, too. :D
Wow, what a list!
I'll have to check them out. Thanks, Beth! :)
Oh, thanks for the great list with all those links - I will definitely have to check some of those out!
I like your list. I get the USA Today newsletter which coincides with their Thursday edition. Between that and the NYTimes I feel I get a balanced opinion. I recently found a magazine called Bookmarks at a local bookstore and really value the one copy I've read so far.
Well you are certainly well-informed! I usually just go with my gut and blogging reviews and books that catch my eye!
And thank you for visiting my interview with Efrem Sigel. I truly appreciated it as it was my first one ... in fact, I gave you an award to thank you. You can find it here: http://findyournextbookhere.blogspot.com/2009/02/kindle-2-and-big-thank-you.html
Sounds like a lot of great places to get opinions from!
I like the New York Times and the local library reviews. I hope the Good Reading Mag is available in the U.S but it might be difficult to find since you do have the local versions such as Bookmarks.
Wow! You get around. ;) I am lucky just to read book blogs. I do read ones from Amazon though. That's about all I have time for though.
