Mini Interview: Me!
The mini-interview meme has been making the rounds. I got my questions from Alea over at Pop Culture Junkie. Here is what she asked me.
1. What's your favorite graphic novel.
This one is easy because I've read only a handful so far. My favorite at the moment is Bone #2 (reviewed here). Fone Bone is really cute in it, and the humor is laugh-out-loud-funny.
2. What's your favorite nonfiction book?
I can never say. For example, If I say Pride and Prejudice, then I'll immediately think, "What about Jane Eyre?" If I say Lord of the Rings, I'll start to think about The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. So my standard answer is, "The book I"m reading now!"
Major Edit (note to self: don't answer questions without first drinking plenty of coffee): My favorite NONfiction book is David McCullough's John Adams.
3. How do you choose what to read next?
I usually have no system or method at all. It's often my newest book, the one my husband just finished, or the next in a series I'm reading. This year, I've decided to join multiple challenges, so I have a rough idea of what I want to read every month. We'll see how it goes. I have a feeling that in a couple of months, my plan will fall apart!
4. Who is one character you would never ever want to trade places with?
I can't think of an exact character, but I promise you that I don't want to be a person who is beaten up, kidnapped, raped, killed, forced to marry someone he or she hates, and so on. That rules out about 75 percent of characters!
5. What is one book you thought would be fabulous and ended up being a
disappointment?
I'll use my latest read: Inkdeath (reviewed here). I had high hopes for it, but it didn't live up to my expectations.

Thanks Alea!! That was fun. If any of you want to play, I'll send questions to the first three people who leave a comment explicitly asking for questions.

I never know what I'm going to read next that's why I have a list of about 6 books, usually I end up reading something completely different to those though.
I'll have some question please, might get me back into reviewing more regularly.
I wanna play :D
Good answers! You totally avoided #2! Especially since none of those were non-fiction! :P
Heheh! Well i'm glad the actual question turned out to be easier to answer! :)
I noticed you avoided question #2 as well. I choose my next book based on my mood at the time.
Oh no... I'm totally worried about reading Inkdeath now. ugh
Don´t want questions (have enough to do with my blog improvement bingo right now :)), but liked your answers very much.
I would never be able to point out one book as the best one either. I sometimes say a book is on my top ten for this year, but anything more definite than that is impossible if one reads enough, I think.
I have just reviewed one of those books which is not only great crime fiction but also great literature in its own right. There are not too many, and unlike 75 per cent of what I read, they are all books I never forget.
How fun! I enjoyed getting to know your reading interests a bit more --- and I totally agree, coffee in the morning is an absolute must before I attempt to do anything :)
Jacquie and Marny will get questions. I can take on one more person! Let me know.
I should probably pass on the questions, since I have a couple of posts waiting to be written! (The kids will probably want to eat tonight!) I like your answers...they just highlight your awesome sense of humor!
Ohh! Pick me! I wanna play!
What a fun meme! I'm the same way when choosing a fiction favorite. ;o)
Great questions and answers! You can interview me if you'd like -- I haven't done this meme yet and it looks like fun.
Ok. I have 4 people to interview:
Jacquie, Marny, Smash, and Ruth! You'll get your questions sometime in the next day or so.
There aren't a lot of characters I'd want to be either!
Howdy,
Question for ya: I have been changing my blog layout quite a bit, b/c I'm frustrated with narrow posting area, and I noticed just now that I have recently changed my layout to the same one you are using, but I also noticed that your posting area is wider than mine. Please, tell me how you changed that?
Too funny! I thought #2 sounded a bit off at first! Great meme!
LOL at #2!! Clearly, I shouldn't be reading meme answers before coffee either...
Thanks for the comment on Mankell - I'd suggest starting with Faceless Killers although it's a little more gruesome than Riga.
Great questions! And I like your answers. :)
Sounds like your reading plans are similar to my own. Already, I have yet to finish the first book in my challenge lists. Too many other books get in the way!
I want to read John Adams too! I so enjoyed 1776.
I totally understand about not having a system. Until this year, I was the same way. ;)
Thanks for the great questions I'm going to have fun answering them!
On #2- that is too funny. I understand the need for caffeine before things make sense to me too. I am not a coffee drinker, but I do drink a soda when I need a caffeine boost.
It was great getting to know you better. I like these kinds of memes. Book related but also getting to know the blogger too.
I never had a system for reading books either until this year. And I have found that while I do deviate from my list, I am a lot more organized in my selections than I have been and I am able to keep up with what I have read. That has always been an issue!
