Booking Through Thursday: Inspiration
Here is this week's BTT question hosted by Deb. For more answers, click on over to the meme's blog here.
Since “inspiration” is (or should) the theme this week . . . what is your reading inspired by?
Yikes! Difficult question. I'm basically mood-driven when it comes time to pick the next book to read. I might be influenced by current events, a television show, a movie, an interesting book review, or just plain whimsy.
I am most attracted to books involving other places, other times (fiction, nonfiction, fantasy) and mysteries (especially series).

I am like you that stories from other places and times draw me in. I think we all like the pleasure of a good escape into fiction.
Happy Thursday and thanks for stopping by today!
I know, this one was exceptionally hard!
I'm inspired by movies too! For me, I feel it's better to watch the movie first before reading the book.
Josette: that's interesting. I prefer to read the book first.
I'm definitely mood-driven when it comes to choosing that next book to read.
I am often mood-driven too! Right now, actually, I really want to read fantasy, but unfortunately I don't have any of those for review and I'm operating under some tight deadlines. Maybe in a week or two!
Mood seems to be the most popular answer. Happy BTT.
I also have to be in the mood for certain books.
I'm not so mood driven. I tend to work through my To-Be-Read pile, which oddly is never empty, sometimes adding favourite books for a re-read.

I can see this is going to be a difficult question for me to answer. I too am sometimes influenced by what's going on in the world around me, be it current events or movies/TV. And like you, I'm definitely influenced by whimsy and blogger reviews.
I'm definitely attracted to books involving other times too. I hadn't thought of it this morning but my inspiration for a book can be mood driven also.
I fully agree!
My mood changes even when I read so I don't usually go by mood. Books in general just inspire me.
I'm a mood-driven reader who can be on a binge of an author or genre of books.
I'm definitely mood driven too.
just like me, sometimes my mood declares what i read.
thanks for dropping by my BTT.
Absolutely! Sometimes the book blogosphere can be intimidating with all these super organized list makers. I am sure that I have attempted a list or two in the past but I probably lost it somewhere.
It sure was a hard question and so many of us seem to be moody readers!
Happy Tuesday!
Yes, I also go off of my emotions and whims at the time of the selection. I have a very hard time selecting books for challenges ahead of time. I keep thinking, "What if I don't feel like reading that one later?" lol
I'm certainly mood-driven!
Yeah you were right, our answers are really very similar :)
I'm constantly amazed at how alike our tastes/reading habits are!
Our answers are very similar--along with many others. Have you read anything by Jacqueline Winspear? I saw from your answer that you like mysteries. While I don't normally like that genre much, I have fallen in love with her Maise Dobbs character-the best thing? Maise Dobbs is a series!

Glad to know that I'm not the only moody reader.
xinef: I pick books from my TBR too, but the order in which I read my books is never set.
Shannon: well, yes, I'm with you there--I'm always inspired to read, it's just that what I read at any given moment is unpredictable.
Matt: I go on binges as well.
Frances: I am huge list maker -- and my wish list of books is miles long. I just don't always follow my list!
Rebecca: I have the same problem, and I don't always stick to my proposed lists for challenges. I never sign up for anything that says your list can't change.
Michele: It's spooky!!!
Kim: Oooooh. Another mystery series to add to my list. Thanks so much for the suggestion.
ohh I sure do get inspired to read more thats all :) :)
I will be posting pics soon :)
